Who the Under 8s are for
- Children starting school Year 3 in September 2026, generally those turning 7 or 8 during the season.
- Boys and girls. Our teams are mixed.
- Children with some experience and complete beginners alike. We rotate the squad fairly, so a new player gets a proper go.
About the group
Last season was the club's first in the Manchester Respect League, and this group played every game of it. They were terrific, and at the end of the season every player was given a trophy, because every one of them earned it.
The squad has grown up together, but it is not a closed shop. We are still taking new players for 2026/27, and children who join now are joining a settled, friendly group rather than starting from scratch.
Training and matches
- Training Wednesday evenings, 5pm to 6pm
- Where Hough End Playing Fields, Princess Parkway, Chorlton, Manchester M20 1HP
- Matches Saturday mornings, from September 2026
- League Manchester Respect League
- Kit Match kit provided by the club
- Coaches Qualified, DBS-checked, first-aid trained and safeguarding qualified

Can my child still join the U8s, or is the team full?
We are still welcoming new U8 players for the 2026/27 season. Get in touch and we will tell you honestly whether there is room in the squad.
How old does my child need to be for the Under 8s?
The U8s are for children starting school Year 3 in September 2026, which usually means they turn 7 or 8 during the season. If your child is in Year 2, our Under 7s are the right group.
Which league do the U8s play in?
The Manchester Respect League. Last season was the club's first season in it. Matches are on Saturday mornings.
Will my child actually get to play, or sit on the bench?
They will play. We rotate the squad fairly across the season and track it, so game time is shared out rather than left to whoever the coach remembers.
Where and when do the U8s train?
Training is Wednesday evenings, 5pm to 6pm, at Hough End Playing Fields on Princess Parkway in Chorlton.
