Membership terms & code of conduct
Chorlton Rovers FC · Season 2026/27
1. About the club and your membership
- Chorlton Rovers FC is a volunteer-run, not-for-profit community amateur sports club in Chorlton, Manchester. Any surplus is reinvested in the club.
- Membership is per player, per season, and is open to children of all abilities. Places depend on space in the relevant age group and are confirmed by the committee.
- Membership covers training, fixtures, league affiliation, pitch hire, playing kit for match days, equipment and the club's insurance.
2. Registration and keeping details up to date
- You register interest via the club website. Once the committee confirms a place, you complete registration in My Rovers: player details, medical and emergency information, consents, and payment setup.
- You confirm the information you give is accurate, and you agree to keep it up to date, especially medical details and emergency contacts. My Rovers lets you change these at any time, and we ask every family to re-confirm them once a year before the season starts.
- A player cannot take part in matches until registration is complete, including emergency treatment consent.
- How we look after your family's information is explained in our privacy notice.
3. Subs and payment
- Subs are the monthly amount shown when you set up payment (currently £29 per month per player), collected by card or Direct Debit through Stripe. The club never sees or stores card details.
- Subs are payable across the whole membership year, including school holidays and months with fewer fixtures. They spread the annual cost of running the club, rather than paying per session.
- If a payment fails we'll let you know and retry; your child's place is not affected while you sort it out. If subs remain unpaid after we've contacted you, the committee may pause the membership until payments restart.
- No child will be excluded because of genuine financial hardship. If paying subs is difficult, talk to us in confidence. We would always rather find a way.
4. Cancelling your membership
- You can request cancellation at any time in My Rovers (under the player's membership record) or by emailing hello@chorltonroversfc.com.
- A volunteer will confirm the cancellation with you. Your subscription stops at the end of the current paid month; part-months are not refunded.
- If the club cannot offer your child football after the season has started (for example an age group folds), we will refund a fair proportion of subs paid for the remainder of that period.
- Any club-owned kit on loan should be returned when a player leaves.
5. Medical information and emergency treatment
- Coaches and first-aiders rely on the medical and emergency contact information in My Rovers on match days. Please keep it accurate.
- Emergency treatment consent is required for a child to play: if a parent or guardian cannot be reached in an emergency, you authorise club officials to seek and consent to emergency medical treatment on your behalf.
- Medical information is shared only with those who need it for club duties, in line with the privacy notice.
6. Photography and video
- We only take and use photos or video of your child in line with the consent you choose in My Rovers, which is re-confirmed each season and can be changed at any time.
- We follow FA guidance: images are taken in appropriate settings, and we do not publish a child's full name alongside their photo.
7. Kit and equipment
- Playing-shirt sizes are confirmed once per season in My Rovers and locked once kit is ordered.
- Shin pads are mandatory for training and matches; football boots appropriate to the surface are the parent's responsibility.
8. Code of conduct
Everyone at Chorlton Rovers, including players, parents, carers, spectators, coaches and volunteers, signs up to the FA's Grassroots Code and its five standards:
- Enjoy the game It's the children's game. Fun comes first, results second.
- Give respect To every player, coach, parent, official and opponent, win, lose or draw.
- Be inclusive Everyone is welcome at the Rovers, whatever their background or ability.
- Work together Support the volunteers who make the club run; offer help when you can.
- Play safe Physical and mental wellbeing come before everything else.
Young players agree to
- Always do their best and be a good sport. Shake hands, and no arguing with referees.
- Treat teammates and opponents as they'd like to be treated; no bullying, on or off the pitch (including group chats).
- Listen to their coaches and tell someone if something feels wrong.
Parents, carers and spectators agree to
- Encourage from the sideline. Never criticise a child's mistakes, coach from the touchline, or question the referee (many of our referees are young people).
- Remember children play for fun: applaud effort and good play by both teams.
- Use respectful language at all times, and let coaches coach on match days.
- Get children to training and matches on time, with the right kit, or let the coach know if they can't make it.
The club and its coaches agree to
- Provide a safe, welcoming environment: FA-qualified, DBS-checked coaches and named welfare arrangements.
- Give every registered player meaningful game time across the season, whatever their ability.
- Communicate openly with families, and listen when something isn't right.
9. Behaviour and discipline
- If the code of conduct is broken, the committee may issue a reminder or warning, ask a spectator to leave, suspend a player or adult from club activities, or, as a last resort, end a membership. We will always talk to you first, and you may respond in writing to the committee.
- Fines imposed on the club by a league or county FA that arise directly from a member's or their family's conduct are payable by that member.
10. Safeguarding
- The welfare of children is paramount. The club follows FA safeguarding policy and procedures; coaches and regular volunteers hold in-date DBS checks and safeguarding training.
- Any safeguarding concern can be raised with the club's welfare officer via hello@chorltonroversfc.com, or directly with the county FA or NSPCC. Concerns are always taken seriously.
11. Insurance and liability
- The club holds the insurance required by FA affiliation, including public liability and personal accident cover for registered players.
- Football involves a risk of injury that insurance cannot remove; parents accept this ordinary sporting risk. Nothing in these terms limits the club's liability for anything that cannot be limited by law.
- The club is not responsible for loss or damage to personal property at training or matches.
12. Changes to these terms
- The committee may update these terms between seasons (or sooner if the FA or law requires). We'll tell you about material changes by email, and you re-confirm acceptance each season as part of the annual season check in My Rovers.
